As a personal project, I thought it would be fun to design a board game and self publish it using Kickstarter for funding. The amount of knowledge to potentially gain through this process is exciting, and I have already learned so much about the world of game design. Here, I am displaying the progression from concept to completion, covering both the creation of the game itself as well as the identity for my newly created publishing company "Cardhill Games".
Many gaming company logos are lacking, and often non existent. I wanted my logo to be playful and fun, but have an air of professionalism that only the more successful/refined existing game publishers have. Inspired from the name of the street I live on (Gledhill), the logo is a tilted subtle "C" shape displaying the corners of two cards tilted at an angle forming a hillscape.
"Into Ruin" is a press-your-luck style game where you are an intrepid explorer with questionable morals (think Indiana Jones) who is exploring ancient ruins with your counterparts, trying to survive long enough to escape with the most valuable artifacts. Designing a game is a lengthy process and some of the progress and art direction is shown here.
